Struggling to find your footing in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2? Below are 5 Top Tips to get you started after the opening sequence.

  1. Finding a Bed for Henry

Unless you plan on brewing Saviour Schnapps right out of the gate or “Exit Saving” regularly, you’re going to want to unlock a bed for Henry.

Due to the actions of your “Living Ball & Chain” Betty at the Troskowitz Inn will not give you the time of day, so you have 3 sensible options for a bed.

  • Tachov – Follow the Main Quest marker and speak to the Blacksmith of Tachov, after showing him you can work the forge he will allow you to sleep at the Smithy, replete with a personal chest and cooking pot you can eat from.
  • Lower Semine Mill – This is a bit of a trek to get to after starting out, so I wouldn’t recommend this right out of the gate. This is the other Main Quest marker location.
  • Zhelejov Inn – This is more central to the region and a convenient location, however you will need to pay daily or pay for a long term stay in order to unlock it permanently.

2. Easy Money

There are many ways to make some money in KCD2, however probably the fastest injection when starting out is to head North from Troskowitz to the Trosky Quarry.

If you climb the ladder on the North side and make your way to the tree you will find a pile of stones, if you search them you will receive approximately 500 Groschen*.

*This refreshes after a set time and is therefore an unlimited source of Money.

3. Free Longbow & Arrows

On the route to Tachov there is a small wooded area on the right hand side of the road, you will see a path heading into the trees to a camp.

Here you will find a decent starting bow along with 30-35 Ordinary Arrows.

You can train your Marksmanship by taking part in the Archery competitions situated at either:

  • Trosky Quarry
  • Gamekeeper Vostatek’s House

This can also be a good source of Groschen.

4. Combat

As soon as you can, make your way to the Nomad Camp, North-West of Semine.

There seek out Tomcat at the fighting arena (South-East End of the Camp).

Here you can receive free training to unlock a couple of combos, but more importantly Master Strikes. If you are on PS5, dodge his strikes with Circle when the Green Shield icon appears, and attack while he is off balance.

With Master Strikes unlocked combat will become much less daunting, if timed and positioned correctly your opponents will be parried and hit for a lot of damage.

Poisons are always good to have on hand for added debilitations and damage over time effects. These can either be bought or crafted yourself. Recipes can be purchased for Bane Poison (High Damage Poison) and Dollmaker’s Poison (Prevents Running + Deals Damage Over Time) from the Nomad Camp or from the Herbalist North of Trosky Castle.

5. Potions / Poisons

Do not underestimate the value of Potions in KCD2. They can absolutely save your life, and make non-combat skills much more manageable.

My personal favourites are:

  • Saviour Schnapps (Potion) – For obvious reasons, it is great to have some on hand to save the game at your whim.
  • Marigold Decoction (Potion) – As long as you have a Pouch equipped you can easily use these mid-combat to restore your health.
  • Aqua Vitalis (Potion) – Pre-Combat, this can be a life saver. Reducing your loss of health as well as slowing any bleeding effects.
  • Quickfinger (Potion) – If you are having trouble with lockpicking this potion is a fantastic booster, making tougher locks easier to get through.
  • Dollmaker Poison (Poison) – Prevents running and causes damage over time, ideal for crowd control as well as for poaching as it prevents animals from bolting!

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but a good place to start in order for you to find your feet!
